Events

The Annual AVS Sports Day returned on Tuesday 16th May. The event was eagerly anticipated and students had been preparing diligently during PE lessons in the preceding weeks. There was a great turn out throughout all years groups and participation levels were high. The action in the track and field events had a real competitive edge while there was an emphasis on fun and enjoyment in the team activities which included soccer, frisbee, Gaelic, basketball, volleyball, rowing and tug of war. Tutor classes competed together to earn points in their year group competition and this fostered a sense of teamwork and collaboration that contributed to the fantastic atmosphere on the day.

The excellent organisation and co-ordination of all the different events, the great weather and the willingness of students and staff to enter into the spirit of things made Sports Day 2023 a thoroughly enjoyable experience for the whole school community.

In May 2021, 8 of our staff members were involved in a top-secret singing competition called the Masked Singer. They were shrouded from head to toe in elaborate costumes, concealing their identities. With each performance, the viewers were left guessing who the singer was behind the mask. The singers attempted to throw off the crowd, but keen observers might have pick up on tiny clues buried throughout the show.
