Message From the Chairperson

Hi, my name is Emma Meehan and I am thrilled to be a part of the Student Council this year. I’m currently a fifth year student and I was selected to be Chairperson of the Student Council.

As a Student Council we wish to have everyone feel included and welcomed. We appreciate the voice of all pupils and we respect everyone’s opinion. Our aim is to strive to represent the student voice and to encourage a sense of care for others. Small acts of random kindness have a ripple effect and can have a big impact on someone’s life.

This year we are working on a lot of different projects.

Our theme for 2021/2022 is kindness and inclusion so we are working on various projects that incorporate these qualities. At Christmas the Student Council organised a collection for St.Vincent De Paul. Students and staff contributed generously to this collection and we packed a large amount ofboxes of food and care products. The St. Vincent De Paul were very grateful for the Schools donation. We also organised a Shoe Box Appeal with Team Hope. It was very successful, collecting a total of 60 shoe boxes. Hopefully this will be an annual event for the Student Council as it’s a lovely project to take part in and it is for an important cause .

We represented our student body in the Donegal Youth Council AGM on November 19th 2021 via zoom. Discussions covered on the day included topics such as Mental Health, Climate Action ,Social Media and Body Image. Our views and opinions are valued in the direction of the Youth Council moving forward.

This was a great opportunity to engage with other students throughout the county and to realise we are all facing similar challenges as we navigate our way through secondary school.

We are currently planning an action project which will convey all the positive attributes we aspire to work towards in our school such as resilience, care, creativity and unity. pupil in our school is a valued member with their own individual talents and strengths.

We work closely with the staff members and management to make the school a better place for everyone. We are very open to feedback and suggestions that might improve the quality of student life. There is a Student Voice box in the assembly area where you can leave any suggestions or make contact with the SC or alternatively you can also talk to your Student Council representative from your year.

Unity is strength and with teamwork and cooperation anything can be achieved.
