Our school introduced Student 1:1 Devices in August 2026. Initially, the devices havebeen introduced for junior students with all students in the scheme having guaranteed access to devices by September 2029. Our school introduced the devices for a number of reasons:

The newly redeveloped senior cycle with its increased emphasis on technology for additional assessment components which are worth 40% of the final grade in each subject.

The new Junior Cycle with Classroom Based Assessments which make considerable use of technology.

The revised Transition Year Statement issued by the Department of Education which incorporates more technology into the curriculum including the creation of ePortfolios.

The national digital strategy which seeks to embed more technology in education.
